Bridge the Gap NYC was founded by Amy Andresen and Ava Safdie, two parents with children in NYC District 3 schools. Both care deeply about creating greater equity among schools and helping ensure that all school communities have access to meaningful opportunities and resources.

Bridge the Gap NYC currently partners with eligible K–5 elementary schools across NYC District 3.

We begin by connecting with school and parent leadership and learning more about the school's community, priorities, and needs. Eligible schools complete a Bridge the Gap NYC grant application with our support, and we work to provide funding for the selected projects and initiatives.

Funding can support a range of enrichment opportunities, educational resources, and other priorities identified by the school community. Because every school is different, we believe the people closest to each school are often best positioned to identify where additional support can make the greatest impact.
